If you choose to file your extension on paper, the program prints the extension paperwork that you need to file. If you are making a payment with your extension, you simply mail your check along with the paperwork to the appropriate IRS Service Center.
The H&R Block software guides you through the steps for printing and filing your extension:
First, you print and assemble your extension paperwork.
Then, you print copies and create a backup of your federal extension for your records.
Finally, you mail your extension to the IRS.
We recommend that you use one of these IRS-approved methods to send your Federal Extension payment. Make sure you retain the proof of mailing to avoid a late filing penalty:
U. S. Postal Service certified mail
Airborne Express Overnight Air Express Service, Next Afternoon Service, or Second Day Service
DHL Worldwide Express Same Day Service, or USA Overnight
FedEx Priority Overnight, Standard Overnight, 2Day, International Priority, or International First
