H&R Blocks's software let's you automatically import data into your tax return.
If you used TurboTax or H&R Block's Software, you can import personal and tax data from last year's return.
If H&R Block works with your company's payroll provider or financial institution, you can import your 2010 W-2 and 1099 amounts.
If you use a
financial program such as
There are three ways in which you can import your data. You can:
Import using the H&R Block software's Smart Import Wizard.
Import from the Interview.
Import from the file menu.
Whichever method you choose, data that you import allows you to type less and finish your return faster than ever before.
After you import data, you can display a summary of the information that was imported. You can make changes to the data after you have finished all your imports.
After you finish your imports, you need to go through the H&R Block software Interview to make sure there isn't any missing or inaccurate information. You should review:
Any imported information that is displayed as brown text.
Any Information that doesn’t seem to match your paper forms.
Any missing information that should have been imported (For example: who owns a certain dividend item if you’re married).
Any information with an exclamation point. An exclamation point means you need to open the item and verify that your information is correct.
Topics with imported data have been pre-selected for you. As you view these pre-selected topics, you can use the Edit or Delete link to make changes or delete the information.
The H&R Block software provides you with reports that you can use to review any information you've imported. If you created your return based on last year's H&R Block Software or TurboTax® return, the Review Last Year's Data report lists all the entries from last year. The Compare This Year's Data to Last Year's report lets you view your imported entries and update them for this year all at once. Information that you import from other financial programs is listed on the Review Financial Imports report. When you import charitable donations from H&R Block's DeductionPro, the H&R Block software creates the Review DeductionPro Imports report.
