The H&R Block software can import any Tax Exchange Format (TXF) file. Many financial packages now include support for the Tax Exchange Format. The Tax Exchange Format uses an identifier for each category of tax information, and specifies which form and line the data should be imported to. If you have a program other than Microsoft Money or Quicken, that supports the Tax Exchange Format, read your program's documentation for details about creating a Tax Exchange Format file.
As you go through the Interview, the data that you import is displayed as brown text. Change anything you need to at that time. You can also view and change the imported information any time by selecting Review Financial Imports from the Reports menu to display the Import Report.
Click the Take Me To button.
From the Welcome section select Smart Import.
Click Go To.
On the Import Data From Financial Software screen, select Yes and click Next.
Select the Other program that supports Tax Exchange Format (TXF) option and click Next.
Click Import. Follow the instructions displayed to import your data.
From the File menu, choose Import Financial Information. The Smart Import dialog box is displayed.
Select the Other TXF option, and click OK. The Import Financial Data from... dialog box is displayed.
Select the file you want to import, and click Open. If the file you want to import is in a different folder, navigate to that folder and select it.
The H&R Block software automatically imports your data and displays the Import Report. You can use this Import Report to edit or delete individual transactions.
