Importing Last Year's H&R Block's TaxCut for Macintosh Data to H&R Block for Windows

If you used H&R Block's TaxCut for Macintosh last year, and you are now running H&R Block for Windows, you can import last year's data from your Macintosh return into this year's return.

To import last year's TaxCut for Macintosh data using the File menu:

  1. Copy last year's H&R Block's TaxCut for Macintosh return to a rewritable CD or flash drive. Make sure the file is named with a .T09 extension. For example, MyTaxes.T08.

  2. Insert the flash drive or CD into the appropriate drive in your PC.

  3. From the File menu, select Import Last Year's Tax Data. The program prompts you to save your current tax return file and then opens the Choose File to Import dialog box.

  4. Navigate to the appropriate CD or flash drive, and select last year's Macintosh return file.

  5. Click Open. The program automatically imports data from your last year's Macintosh return file into this year's return.

  6. On the Welcome Back screen, enter a file name for the new tax return, and then click the Save and Continue button.

The program saves the return in the default folder listed. If you want to save the tax return file to a different folder, use the Browse button to navigate to the folder.

  1. To display the Review Last Year's Data report and view all the previous year's imported data, click the Review Last Year's Data button.

  2. To view all your previous year's data and make changes to it, go to the Reports menu and select Compare Data for Last Year. You can make changes directly on the report or click the Go To Form button to make changes on the form itself.

As you go through the Interview, the H&R Block tax software will tell you which topics have imported data. Imported information is displayed as blue text. You can review the data and make changes at that time. To review all the imported data at once, select the Review Last Year's Tax Imports from the Report menu. The report lists all of the values imported from last year's return. It is sorted by form, and shows the values the program inserted.
