You can import last year's tax data using our Smart Import or using the File menu.
As you go through the Interview the information you import is displayed as brown text. You can make any additional changes at that time.
Launch the H&R Block software and click Start a Return. The program displays the Smart Import screen.
Read the information and click Next.
On the Smart Import: Import Last Year's Taxes screen, select the tax return file that you want to import from the list box.
TurboTax® files have a .tax extension. If the tax return file is in a different folder, use the Browse button to navigate to the folder you need.
Click the Import Selected File button. The H&R Block software automatically imports data from your last year's file into this year's return.
On the Smart Import: Save Your Progress screen, enter a file name for the new tax return, and then click Save and Continue.
The program saves the return in the default folder listed. If you want to save the tax return file to a different folder, use the Browse button to navigate to the folder.
The H&R Block software displays the Smart Import: Import Amounts from 2010 screen. You can use this screen to import your 2010 W-2 and1099 information and import amounts you've stored in financial software.
If don't need to import any other information, click Next Step. The H&R Block software displays the Smart Import: Compare Your Imported Items screen.
Click on the check box of the items you want to delete to remove the check mark. You should keep only the most current version of each form or item and delete any duplicates.
Click the Start Return button.
From the File menu, select Import Last Year's Tax Data. The Choose File to Import dialog box opens.

Go to the Reports menu and select Review Last Year's Data. The Review Last Year's Data report is displayed. You can use this report to review all your imported data at once.
Go to the Reports menu and select Compare to Last Year's Data. The Compare This Year's Data to Last Year's report is displayed. You can make changes directly on the report or click the Go To Form button to make changes on the form itself.
