Importing Data From Quicken 2010

You can import your financial information from Quicken 2010 directly into the H&R Block software.

As you go through the Interview, the data that you import is displayed as brown text. You can change anything you need to at that time. You can also view and change the imported information any time by selecting Review Financial Imports from the Reports menu to display the Import Report.

To import data while working in the Interview:

  1. Click the Take Me To button.

  2. From the Welcome section, select Smart Import.

  3. Click Go To.

  4. On the Import Data From Financial Software screen, select Yes and click Next.

  5. Select Quicken 2010 and click Next.

  6. Click Import.

  7. Follow the instructions displayed to import your data.

To import data using the File menu:

  1. You must first export data from Quicken. Follow the instructions listed below:

  2. Open Quicken.

  3. Create a Tax Schedule Report. Make sure you create a Tax Schedule Report, NOT a Tax Summary Report.

  4. Click Export on the Tax Schedule Report button bar.

  5. Save the Tax Schedule Report in your HRBlock directory. Make sure you give the file name a .txf extension and specify the file type as Tax Export File.

  6. Using your Investment Account, create a Capital Gains Report.

  7. Click Export on the Capital Gains Report button bar.

  8. Save the Capital Gains Report in your HRBlock directory. Make sure you give the file name a .txf extension and specify the file type as

  9. Open the H&R Block program.

  10. From the File menu, choose Import Financial Information. The Smart Import dialog box is displayed.

  11. Select Quicken and version 2011, and then click Next.  The Import Financial Data from... dialog box displays.

  12. Select the tax export file (.txf) file you created, and clickImport Selected File. The program automatically displays the Idata to be imported. You can change the imported information at this time.

  13. Click Import

  14. Repeat steps 9 through 12, only this time select the capital gains export file (.txf) file you created.
