Where do numbers come from?
To see a description of a form and information about where numbers on the form come from or go to, do one of the following:
Click the Help button to open Help Central, and then click Form Help (Explain this Form).
From the Help menu, select Tax Help, and then select Explain This Form.
This feature is available for most tax forms, particularly when the form gets many of its entries from other forms and worksheets.
I expected the program to carry a number from a form and it's not there.
Try recalculating the entire return. From the Tools menu, choose Recalculate. Because the program calculates only one form at a time, inconsistencies can develop. Recalculating should eliminate them.
If the number still does not appear after you recalculate, check to be sure that the destination location is not overridden. If it is, undo the override:
Right-click on the destination field.
Click the Entry Information tab.
Click the Override this entry check box.
Also make sure that all questions have been answered in the Interview and on the relevant forms and worksheets.
I've just completed my federal tax return and have opened my state return. Why don't I see all the information from my federal return carried to my state return?
The H&R Block software carries some of the information and numbers from your federal return to your state return, but the program does not carry all the information. You will still need to answer some questions to complete your state return.
I'm filing returns for two states. Will the program carry the information that I enter for one state to the other state return.
No. The program cannot carry data from one state return to another state return.
