Displaying Explanations for Tax Forms

A description of the purpose of a form and an explanation of the underlying calculations for the form are available for all forms included in this program. The description includes only explanations for calculations that are not obvious. For example, entries that are simply the sum of previous lines on the form are not included, because the line itself explains the calculation.

To read an explanation of the calculations for a tax form:

  1. Open a form. See Opening a Form for more information.

  2. Click the Help button. The program opens Help Central.

  3. In the table of contents on the left side of the Help Central window, click on Form Help (Explain this Form).

  4. Click on  IRS Forms or IRS Schedules.

  5. Scroll down the list of forms or schedules and click on the one you want.
