Annual Call to Conclave
Elkhart Lake Racing & Sipping Society
2000
Once again the awesome burden of serving as your esteemed (albeit
underpaid) founder weighs heavy upon these shoulders. Some of you have actually had
the temerity to ask, "So, where was The Call last year? How ever were we to know
where to go, what to do, and when? Well, tough rockos, Bonzo! Stop your pitiful whining
and listen up! So I had a bad year. But all that's behind us now, so shut up and pay
attention.
Despite insidious rumors as to the untimely demise of the fabled
KEN-EV Campground
, traditional locus for the annual ELR&SS Encampment(now for the seventh consecutive year!), keen insight and exemplary independent
investigative efforts on the part of Timothy P. Krikau (Southern Wisconsin - Racine
Chapter) have revealed that our treasured venue is still active, kicking, and ready to do
business. In addition to the hardy band of regular attendees and deviates, this year's
encampment is expected to be graced by two California members. They are none other
than Maj. Addison P. Tower (Southern California - Edwards AFB Chapter) and Ctzn.
Jeffery W. Hunt (Northern California - Petaluma Chapter), both of whom have been
absent from our annual soire since time immemorial. So, in anxious anticipation of the
sheer ecstasy that awaits,...
BE IT KNOWN THEREFORE
, that the40th ANNUAL ENCAMPMENT
of theElkhart Lake Racing & Sipping Society
Shall convene at its namesake village on Thursday the 20th day of July 2000 at
approximately 6:00p.m. As in Years past, it shall be the sacred duty of the earliest
arrivals to secure the traditional, hallowed Ken-Ev Camping turf into which shall
(eventually) be implanted The Sacred Standard as evidence thereto.
In the unlikely (although, possible) event that Sheboygan County authorities have finally
gotten the goods on Ken-Ev Camping and seen fit to shut the hell hole down as a public
nuisance, this year's alternative locus shall be the Sheboygan Marsh County Park public
campground (located just a few miles northwest of Elkhart Lake on County J) the scene
of many previous encampments prior, even, to the halcyon days of LaBudde's Acres.
Indeed, some of our numbers' earliest and fondest Road America memories can be
traced to the shores of that sun-dappled, sylvan dell.
So, yet again, the invitation is open, the choice is yours. Lies will be told, gas will be
passed, and consciousness will be virtually nonexistent. Any so-called "member" who
chooses not to be present risks incurring the rath, instilling the ire, and fomenting the
outrage of the assembled active membership, thus risking possible ostracism and
banishment.

et quid pro quo in perpetuum
