"Where is The Call? However are we to know

where to go, what to do, and when to do it? Huh?

      Well, with the dust bowl-like clouds finally settling down over the otherwise peaceful hamlet of Iola, and Old Car Show 2001 now just a memory, I at last deign to address my keyboard and and undertake to still your concerns regarding those very topics. 

     Once again rumors are rampant as to the impending demise of the fabled Ken-Ev Campground, traditional locus for the annual ELR&SS Encampment (proposed now for the eighth consecutive year!). As last year, keen and exemplary independent investigatory efforts on the part of Timothy P. Krikau (Southern Wisconsin - Racine Chapter), ably assisted by James L. Bell (Southern Wisconsin - Franksville Chapter) have revealed that our treasured venue was alive, kicking, and doing business during this year’s June Sprints. Conversation with a campground representative revealed, however, that that condition may not continue through the July Historics.

We can but hope.

shall convene at its namesake village on Thursday the 19th day of July 2001 at approximately 6:00 p.m. As usual, it shall be the sacred duty of the earliest arrival(s) to secure the traditional, hallowed Ken-Ev Camping turf into which shall in due course be implanted THE SACRED STANDARD for all to gaze upon in wonderment and awe.

Should the circumstance arise that Sheboygan County authorities have well and truly gotten the goods on Ken-Ev Camping and seen fit to shutter the abysmal pit as a public health hazard, this year’s alternative venue shall be the Sheboygan Marsh County Park public campground (located just a few miles northwest of Elkhart Lake on County J). The "Marsh" has been the scene of many previous encampments prior, even, to the halcyon days of LaBudde’s Acres. Indeed, some of our numbers’ earliest and fondest Road America memories can be traced to the shores of that sun-dappled, sylvan dell.

So, yet again, the invitation is open and the choice is yours. Lies will be told, gas will be passed, and lucid, coherent thought will be well nye impossible. Any self-styled "member" who chooses not to be present risks criticism, castration, and being called "poopy face" at the hands of the remaining faithful.
