By filing your return electronically, you are accepting the terms of the Consent to Disclosure agreement which allows your Intermediate Service Provider, transmitter, or Electronic Return Originator (ERO) to send your return/form to the IRS and to receive the following information from the IRS:
Acknowledgment of receipt or reason for rejection of transmission
Refund offset
Reason for any delay in processing or refund
Date of any refund
When you sign your return electronically (using a self-select PIN), you also agree to accept the Perjury Statement which declares that you have examined your return, including any accompanying statements and schedules and, to the best of your knowledge and belief, it is true, correct, and complete.
If you file electronically and owe tax, you can now have your tax payment automatically withdrawn from your bank account on a date you choose.
When you agree to this type of payment, you authorize the U.S. Treasury and its designated Financial Agent to initiate an ACH Electronic Funds Withdrawal (Direct Debit) entry to the financial institution account indicated for payment of your Federal taxes owed on your return and/or a payment of estimated tax. You also must further understand that this authorization may apply to subsequent Federal tax payments that you direct to be debited through the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS). In order for you to initiate subsequent payments, you request that the IRS send a personal identification number (PIN) to access EFTPS. This authorization is to remain in full force and effect until you notify the U.S. Treasury Financial Agent to terminate the authorization. To revoke a payment, you must contact the U.S. Treasury Financial Agent at 1-888-353-4537 no later than 2 business days prior to the payment (settlement) date. You also authorize the financial institutions involved in the processing of the electronic payment of taxes to receive confidential information necessary to answer inquiries and resolve issues related to the payment.
