You can e-file your tax return with the H&R Block tax software from January 10, 2011 through October 15, 2011. The IRS will begin processing returns on January 14, 2011. You will be able to check the status of your return beginning on January 16, 2011.
Note: You will need to file for a Federal extension if you plan on filing your return after April 18, 2011.
