To submit your Federal and State tax returns electronically, you are required to pay a small filing fee. H&R Block offers you three methods for paying this fee.
Key Code - If you purchased a Federal and/or State edition where the e-filing fees are included, you will be prompted to enter an 8 digit alphanumeric key code in order to e-file your return. If you purchased the H&R Block product on CD or Thumb drive, you can find this key code on a sheet of paper in your packaging. If you downloaded the program, the key code was sent to you via an email. Please keep in mind that you can only use this key code for one Federal and/or State (if applicable) electronic filing.
Simple Pay - If you are a qualified user and have selected direct deposit of your federal tax refund, you can choose Simple Pay. With Simple Pay, electronic filing fees for a federal return or jointly filed federal/state returns are deducted automatically from your federal refund. If the state return is filed after the federal return has been accepted, the state electronic filing fee has to be paid with a credit card.
Credit/Debit Card - Or you can simply fill out the Credit Card Information on the Payment of Electronic Filing Fee window which authorizes us to charge the Federal and State (if applicable) electronic filing fee to your credit card.
Note: With Simple Pay and Credit Card payment methods, you will not be charged for rejected returns. You will be charged only when your return has been accepted by the IRS or state taxing authority.
