The gory details, most recent first...

  • SCCA Freedom Regional - 7/3-5, 2003

Thursday: - Left for Ohio in the conversionvan, tow dolly attached about 9:00 p.m. drove until midnight to someplace in Indiana for the night.

Friday: - Made our way to M-O, dropped the family off at the hotel and I went to the track for registration and annl tech. Discovered that teh fire ext had popped during the trip, so I need a new one and another visit to tech before ontrack Sat.

We ended up being in Group 7, last of the day. This causes pressures that eventually cause us to leave before race time on Sunday. Real downer after the long haul and all the crap I've gone through just to get here.

Saturday: - Got up early, got a fire extinguisher at Lowes on the way, but it was a bigger one (no small ones with metal handles to be found), so tech didn't give me the annual (no quick release), but ok'd me for the weekend.

11:30 Qualifying. - Cool, first time on track. They do a funky chute setup out onto the track, tight but off I go. Somewhere around turn 7 or 8 all of a sudden brake pedal to the floor. Aiiiey. Crap. Pull off into the pits and back to the paddock. No one there, so I unstrap get out, start looking around. Damn! Again ala RA, left the 8mm wrench on the bleeder screw. It had kicked open and no more juice. Poured more in, did a quick bleed, hopped back in, but by the time I got all hooked in and back to the chute, qualifying was just closing. Bummer #1, lost the opportunity to get comfortable with the track.
